United tastes of Crete
Crete insn´t just an island – it´s a feeling, a flavor, a way of life. From its sun-kissed landscapes to ist word-
famous cuisine, Crete invites you to taste life at its fullest.
Here, in the rugged heart of the island, Lefka Ori, the „White Mountains“, rise boldly against the sky. A land of
towering peaks, hidden gorges, and shepherds’ trails that defy maps. With over 58 summits above 2,000
meters, snow-covered in winter and wild in spirit all year round, Crete is not just an island—it’s an untamed
hiking paradise.
But Crete’s trails are not the polished paths of the Alps. They are raw, untamed, unpredictable. Signs appear
and vanish. Paths wind through thorny shrubs. And yet, somehow, you always find your way. Because when
you walk with purpose, the road reveals itself.
If your heart knows where it wants to go, the path will always find you.
Where should you hike?
Samaria Gorge – The legendary canyon of Europe. A breathtaking journey through pine forests, towering cliffs,
and narrow rock passages, leading to the sleepy seaside village of Agia Roumeli.
Imbros Gorge – Steeped in history and framed by 300-meter-high walls, this gorge was once the secret passage
for resistance fighters. The narrowest point? Just 1.6 meters wide. A place where history whispers through the
stones.
Agia Irini – Wild, green, and untamed. “Irini” means peace, and here, among the olive trees and rugged rocks,
peace is exactly what you’ll find. The trail ends in Sougia, a laid-back coastal village where time slows down.
Mt. Psari & Gingilos – No Cretan adventure is complete without reaching for the sky. These peaks, born of
myth, are where Zeus himself was said to have placed his throne. The trails are tough, the sun relentless, but at
the summit, surrounded by silence and endless blue, you’ll understand why the gods chose this place.
As our guide Michalis once said, „the soul of Crete lives in its mountains“. And standing at the top, gazing at
the endless peaks, breathing in the stillness — you’ll feel it too.
Because this island, these mountains, are impossible not to love.
